MITHRIDATE Autumn/Winter 2025: A Cultural Tapestry of British Heritage and Chinese Craftsmanship

In a striking debut collection for MITHRIDATE, creative director Daniel Fletcher seamlessly bridges British heritage with Chinese craftsmanship, redefining sartorial storytelling with a contemporary edge. The Autumn/Winter 2025 collection explores the tension between past and present, tradition and rebellion, layering refined tailoring with an undertone of rock 'n' roll insubordination.

A Fusion of Cultures

Fletcher’s vision for MITHRIDATE AW25 draws from both the brand’s Chinese roots and its new London home, crafting a narrative that blurs geographical and historical boundaries. The collection embodies the essence of British style—structured outerwear, tailored silhouettes, and preppy undertones—while infusing intricate Chinese techniques, such as hand-embellished beading and precision layering. This harmonious juxtaposition challenges conventional dress codes, introducing a wardrobe that celebrates the multiplicity of identity.

Subverting Tradition: Textures, Layers, and Unexpected Pairings

One of the collection’s defining elements is its unexpected layering. Traditional British wardrobe staples are reimagined in new contexts: tailored coats thrown over drop-waist ball gowns evoke scenes of dawn-lit escapes from summer balls in Cambridge, while classic ladylike silhouettes are toughened with woolen zip-up hoodies, reflecting the realities of modern dressing.

Textures play a pivotal role in conveying the collection’s romantic yet rebellious spirit. Plush knits meet supple leathers; corduroy blazers nod to academic nostalgia, contrasting with relaxed Harrington jackets. A standout feature is the use of sailor-inspired coats finished with blanket-stitched edges, emphasizing craftsmanship as a key narrative thread.

The Colors of Contradiction

The AW25 palette leans into an audacious mix of hues that straddle the line between taste and excess. Fletcher provocatively pairs saccharine pastels with deep navy wools and tan leathers, drawing influence from both the opulence of the 1980s and the rebellious spirit of the early 2000s. This fearless approach to color blocks, prints, and patterns serves as an ode to fashion’s cyclical reinvention.

The Protagonist Spirit: Dressing for a Life of Adventure

Embedded within the collection is a sense of protagonist energy, where every look is designed to be worn in a life that unfolds like a Richard Curtis screenplay—full of serendipity, charm, and adventure. Fluidity in styling allows for self-expression, while elements of British eccentricity inject humor and personality into the collection.

New MITHRIDATE motifs and emblems emerge across knitwear and shirting, further embedding the brand’s DNA into this debut under Fletcher’s direction. Outerwear is a particular strength, catering to Britain’s capricious climate with a coat for every mood—whether donnish corduroy blazers, slouchy trench coats, or oversized wool coats designed for dramatic movement.

A New Era for MITHRIDATE

With AW25, Daniel Fletcher ushers in a fresh, era-defining approach to MITHRIDATE—one that respects heritage while actively redefining it. This collection is a masterclass in recontextualization, proving that the past and present are not opposing forces but rather dynamic collaborators in the ever-evolving story of fashion.
