Recently featured at Milan Fashion Week, and previously at New York Digital Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, IDFW, and other exceptional events, Ecoolska is one of the first phygital sustainable fashion brands based in Portugal - they do eco-friendly physical clothes as well as digital fashion! Ethical and sustainable fashion, mindful of our physical and virtual environment.
From Iraida Radchenko, Ecoolska's PR director, “We are an innovative fashion brand Ecoolska that combines both directions: physical and digital. We are based in Portugal, and we create physical, sustainable activewear from innovative eco-friendly fabrics (eucalyptus and algae). We design digital fashion clothes, produce digital fashion shows, and create wearable NFTs. We have already premiered 3 digital fashion shows with 3D avatars: first at International Digital Fashion Week, second at New York Digital Fashion Week, and third at London Fashion Week. We have already listed our digital fashion clothes for avatars in Decentraland Metaverse and Zepeto Metaverse. We have our own Virtual Penthouse with 3D fashion garments in Spatial Metaverse. We partner with DressX, Replicant Fashion, NTZN World, and other wonderful players in the digital fashion market.”
We at LO'AMMI had the opportunity to learn more about Ecoolska as a brand and its present and future vision.
Questions
L'A: Who are the founders of Ecoolska, and what is their vision for the brand?
ECO: Olska Green is a founder and fashion designer of one of the first sustainable phygital brands in the world, Ecoolska, based in Portugal. She is a fashion innovator and eco-activist. Her main mission for her is to transform the fashion industry into a sustainable and digital one.
L'A: Where did the idea for phygital fashion come from? Is this a new concept, or has it been around long?
ECO: The inspiration behind launching Ecoolska was to create a brand that embodies sustainability, innovation, and technology. Olska Green (CEO) loves nature very much and wants to save this incredible beauty! Nature, great people, art, and innovations are big inspirations for her! Olska uses technology to create clothes that are not only beautiful but also sustainable, innovative, stylish, and functional. Olska believes that fashion has the power to make a positive impact on the environment, and she wants to be a part of that change.
L'A: In what ways can phygital fashion serve to protect the environment?
ECO: We create digital twins of our physical activewear and implement NFC chips to show transparency and create the utility for our virtual object. Next Season we plan to produce "plastic-free" biodegradable innovative activewear made from seaweed/algae with NFC chips. We plan to implement NFC in our new activewear line in order to allow our customers to track the products around the world, ensure their authenticity, and create a direct two-way communication channel with consumers via their smartphone, used as an NFC reader.
L'A: Can Ecoolska give us more information on Wearable NFTs?
ECO: We truly believe that sustainable fashion is essential for creating a better future and a better fashion industry. Through our digital wearable NFTs, we prove that clothes can be mind-blowingly beautiful and harmless for Mother Nature.
Today fashion is not only for reality and the physical world.
Virtual fashion is being sold in a variety of ways: from gaming platforms and digital photos to videos that use augmented reality and even NFTs.
We are excited about the potential for digital fashion to bring more inclusivity and diversity to the industry. With virtual garments, there are no size constraints, allowing for clothing that can fit anyone. It also allows for more experimentation and creativity, as designers are not limited by the constraints of physical production. We see digital fashion continuing to evolve and push the boundaries of what is possible in fashion.
We think that NFTs and the metaverse have the potential to create new opportunities for digital fashion. With NFTs, digital garments can become collectible and valuable, creating a new market for virtual fashion. Especially NFTs with utility (physical twin, access to private parties, etc.). NFT and blockchain will play an important role in the fashion industry as it helps prevent counterfeits. The market for fakes in the fashion industry is as big as the fashion industry itself. NFT is like a passport ID of identification.
L'A: How does Ecoolska see digital fashion taking over the market in the near future? What is the importance of the expanding metaverse in all of these areas?
ECO: 3D design has a huge role to play in sustainability within the fashion industry. It allows designers to create and test virtual prototypes, reducing the need for physical samples and production. It also allows for more efficient use of materials, as designers can optimize designs to reduce waste. Going forward, we believe that 3D design will become an increasingly important tool for sustainable fashion. Digital fashion can reduce overconsumption and overproduction by at least 10% or maybe more in the future. It also opens up new possibilities for customization and personalization and has pre-orders from buyers and customers before production.
We are most excited about the potential for digital fashion to bring more inclusivity and diversity to the industry. It also allows for more experimentation and creativity, as designers are not limited by the constraints of physical production. NFT and blockchain will play an important role in the fashion industry as it helps prevent counterfeits. The market for fakes in the fashion industry is as big as the fashion industry itself. NFT is like a passport ID of identification, authenticity of the product, and its uniqueness and originality. So, of course, it helps to be more transparent and trustworthy for the whole fashion industry.
