Dilay Seckin: I'm interviewing you, and we're doing a cover shoot again after a year. What kind of period of your life are you in?

Burcu Kıratlı: I'm in a very active period of my life. I'm spending more time with myself. I've focused on what I want, and I'm working on it.

DS: The shooting of the movie Love In The Street, which you acted in, has just been completed. Can you tell us about its story?

BK: It's a story about a woman named İdil, who's disappointed at her wedding and finds real love while trying to find out who she is after losing her memory after a traffic accident… A very friendly and very entertaining romantic comedy. The audience will watch me for the first time in the romantic comedy genre outside of the theater stage through this movie. That's why I'm very excited.

DS: Where was the film shooting?

BK: The film was shot in Didim. I went to Didim for the first time, and I loved it. The people there welcomed us very nicely. There was great interest in us, of course, which increased our motivation.

DS: When is it going to be released?

BK: It's currently being edited. It's likely going to be released next February.

DS: Have you ever been to the USA before? Which state do you dream of seeing the most?

BK: Of course, I've been to the USA, and I enjoyed it very much. I like to go abroad whenever I have the chance. I like to see different places and different cultures.

DS: What kind of dream of success did you have in mind when you first entered this sector? When you look back now, where do you see yourself?

BK: Actually, there's no end to dreaming. My dreams grow with me every year. Acting is a profession without limits. There's no limit to what I'll learn and add to myself. That's why I can say I'm still at the beginning of my dreams.

DS: What made you stand out from your competitors in this challenging area and take you to the leading roles? Beauty or talent?

BK: Audiences should make the decision about this!

DS: How do you evaluate incoming projects? What foundations should the project you say 'This is the right job for me' be based on?

BK: I approach projects completely with my emotions. I've never taken part in any project that didn't make me feel good, so I'm very selective about this. The project and the role must impress me…

DS: Which character did you act in as your career's turning point?

BK: They all have a special place in my heart. It all gives me experience and a career. All of them contributed a lot. There's nothing I can't do for the role I believe in. I shaved my hair for the character I acted in the movie 'Fairy Tale.' It was a difficult, radical decision for a young actress to make.

In the series 'Love and Blue,' I moved to Cappadocia because I believed in the character Blue very much! So, they're all characters that made me tired but added a lot; they're all the turning points.

DS: What kind of character would you most like to act?

BK: Act as different characters as possible I'd like to. I like to keep myself in this importance and be out of the ordinary. Acting as characters who've experienced deep pain is challenging and enjoyable. I'd also love to act as a fighter woman agent character…

DS: Writer Jorge Amado said, "A person's homeland is her/his childhood." What kind of child were you, and how did you feel about the concept of 'home' in your childhood?

BK: I had a very enjoyable childhood… I spent time with my friends in the summer. I also played football matches and played with Barbies like princesses :) I'd a little bit of both sides. I was able to enjoy my childhood. So the childhood of my generation wasn't a childhood of technology… Any friendly, natural, and unspoiled environment takes me back to my childhood.

DS: What inspired you to discover yourself or chart your own path? Who's been your biggest supporter on your path?

BK: I can never completely discover myself, but I've known I'd be an actress for as long as I can remember. I couldn't think of any other profession. I was born for this, and it couldn't be otherwise. Of course, my biggest supporter in this situation was my mother, and still, she is!

DS: What does fame mean to you? Are there moments about being famous that you find difficult to accept occasionally?

BK: Fame, celebrity… These are just situations brought about by my profession for me. I can't say that I live according to this situation. I didn't try to limit my life or pretend to be someone other than myself. Due to my family's profession, I grew up among magazines and celebrities, so I wasn't a stranger to this situation.

DS: Everything we experience in life shapes us and guides our paths. What is your most distinctive characteristic that remains unchanged whether you are feeling unmotivated or achieving your dreams, and defines who you are in all circumstances?

BK: I guess my conscience and honesty… No matter what happens, I've never been one to change my character. I never gave up on what was right, even if the consequences would affect me badly.

DS: What is your interpretation of freedom, and how do you define it in your life without allowing others to dictate it?

BK: I listen to everyone, but I make my own decisions. In my life, I've never been a strategic and planned person. In fact, I've got to be a little! I'm actually someone who behaves with emotions; this is one of my greatest freedoms.

DS: You're very fit and beautiful. Do you have any special care secrets other than your genetic codes?

BK: I don't do a lot of sports, and I don't care much for my skin, but I apply skin care once every two months.

DS: What do you think about the modern aesthetic perception and today's beauty standards?

BK: It's everyone's own choice. People should dress and look how they feel comfortable and want to. Of course, I respect this situation, but I don't think it's right. This recent aesthetic perception results in people looking similar to each other and not feeling good. I always thought that natural beauty is more attractive.

DS: Everyone defines love in their own way. I want you to tell me your definition of love.

BK: Ok! I think there's no definition of love. It's a feeling that can't be put into molds. It allows you to experience everything at the highest level. I'm a person in love with love. That's why I do everything with love. I love my dogs with love; I do my job with love, and I cook with love. Love is an indispensable feeling.

DS: Love can turn from commitment to addiction after a while. Do you think there's any strategy for establishing this balance?

BK: This is something that changes by the relationships people have. So, it completely depends on the individual and the person with whom they are in a relationship. As long as there's mutual love, respect, and care for each other, there'll be no problem.

If the relationship involves fighting after a while, love leaves that relationship. Afterward, it becomes necessary for that relationship to end. Love doesn't like fakeness and insensitivity. But if these started in the relationship, that love's already over. Only addiction and habit remain. This is nothing more than a relationship that's about to end.

DS: How do you spend a comfortable day without a set? What do you like doing?

BK: Spending time with my friends, eating, talking, and playing games with my favorite people at home makes me feel good.

DS: Where and what are you usually doing when you say 'This is life'?

BK: I'd probably be working! The place where I breathe in this life is definitely the set. The place where I feel like I belong, where I'm at peace, is the area where I work.

DS: As a successful woman who can hustle, what message would you give to women who'd like to make their dreams come true but don't lack the courage?

BK: They shouldn't give up on any obstacle they meet. They aren't obstacles; they're the situations they meet to help them become stronger. Falling is just a break. They'd never forget that they can always get up stronger. Their dreams are their future. And no one else can; only they can make these dreams come true.
